The requirement
Freemeteo.com is a website about the weather. It provides comprehensive weather forecasts for all regions of our planet - both land and sea – tailored to the individual needs of people who require daily updates. More than 10 million geographic locations are investigated and detailed weather forecasts are produced, updated twice daily.
Such a data centric application required advanced data handling. The amount of information updated daily is huge and the source of this information is at a remote location. This required high performance data transferring, complex data manipulation and calculations prior inserting it to the database and of course sophisticated database management and maintenance for fast query execution.
The solution
Atcom managed to design and develop this project in a timely manner which was made possible using the Netvolution Platform. Extensive usage of the platform API was made in order to accomplish the data management and maintenance that was required.

- Netvolution™'s built in AJAX capabilities provided rapid AJAX module development. AJAX modules result to lighter HTTP requests and hence smarter server utilization.
- Netvolution™'s GeoIP module was used to automatically redirect the visitor to the correct information according to his/hers location.
